BAN THE BAG

POSTER CAMPAIGN

Mixed media social change poster design

Ban The Bag is a mixed media poster designed to encourage people to stop using plastic bags. After creating typography stencils, I wrapped letters in plastic bags and scanned them in to photoshop. The textures in the background are plastic scans and collaborate with the letters and main design to create a modern feel. Getting out of the computer and using physical objects as design was my favorite part of this project. Black and white was a challenge, but the different mediums gave it a whole new interest.

WEDDING PRINT

LOCAL COLLABORATION

Menu design styled shoot

I love meeting other Nebraska self-made companies, so when I was approached with the opportunity to be a part of a styled wedding shoot I immediately jumped at it. Wedding creative is some of my favorite work, so for this shoot I designed a custom menu for a couple that fit the aesthetic of this styled shoot.

NEW YORKER POSTER

LOIS LONG

Inspired by the first female columnist for the New Yorker

The challenge of this project was to design a poster based on an influential person who made advancements in society. I selected Lois Long, one of the only female column writers for the New Yorker in the 1920's. She anonymously reviewed speakeasies during the prohibition era and broke behavior and fashion boundaries for females. Lois Long is a key example of the quote "well behaved women seldom make history." This 24"x36" poster was created in Adobe Illustrator and captures the essence of the 1920's through it's Art Deco style.

This poster was selected for the juried Eisentrager-Howard Gallery Exhibition

LYRIC BOOK

CIGARETTE DAYDREAM

7 spread lyric book inspired by Cage the Elephant

Music has always been influential in my career as a designer, and Cage The Elephant has always been a band with bold lyrics and personality. This lyric book was inspired by their song "Cigarette Daydream", one of my teenage anthems in 2013. I channeled my personality and created a visual representation of this song, and although it was challenging, it was incredibly exciting. The title of this book is Polyphonic: Collective Sounds. Inside is a collection of smaller lyric books created by 15 other designers. To see the digital copy, visit: issuu.com/allielaing/docs/cigarette_daydream.
